Felixstowe Docks in trouble?

Preumably in the short term, Felixstowe (and other ports across the world) will be cutting staff as trade volumes are falling quickly.
Longer term, if Felixstowe are as good as I think you've said in the past there will be opportunities for them as less competitive ports go bust leaving the survivors with a larger share of the market and the ability to levy higher fees.
It is going to be hard for the next few years but the PORT will do what it has always done. Through the excellant employee's the customers will continue to get excellant service making them want to stay at Felixstowe and will continue to attract new customers that will come out the other side of this recession.0 -

If company's dont they start to struggle and can end up like woolies etc and go out of business, making ALL their employees redundent.
Surely it is important that company's address situations that arise in the global economy straight away so that they are better equiped to face these arwful challenges head on and go from strength to strength.
But you denied there were any situations to be faced, it seems to me:
Clueless as usual, the Port broke its record of over 9100 boxes in a week.
Keep your chin up because I still believe that we will still see strong volumes through Felixstowe in 2009 and there will be a big anouncement from one of them in the next couple of weeks which will surprise a few of the PORT's competitors.
There will not be a disaster for the town and like I have said before the parent company is still be happy to be pumping money into the redevlopment as they know how strong the workforce is at keeping the customers happy.
As you say the last two recessions did not effect the PORT but this one is likely to be the biggest yet but I still remain confident in those managers around me to be out there winning business from our competitors.
...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Just to take a bit out of that quote

It may not have had a direct effect on the company which operates the port but it had a huge effect on the associated companies...I was made redundant twice in the last recession and saw many many companies go pop.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

I do admire your hard work and loyalty to your employer, Pickles. It's great to enjoy what you do for a living, and I think you do enjoy it....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

I am getting sick and tired of people slagging the PORT of when they have not got a clue and all these made up rumours just scare people for no reason.
Facts are the only thing that should be written about.
You left that one in then Pickles mate, no straying from the company line for you eh?
ROLL UP ROLL UP TO THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING THREAD - FIRST LONGTUG NOW PICKLES HAVE WITHDRAWN THEIR POSTS ( not realising they are still there in quotes!!):rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
