Do we? (re the white hats) The thing I can think of is port staff who are usually office based who wear white hats when they go portside.

I don't understand why you are telling us this, I am not connected with the docks at all, only through acquaintances, and wouldn't know or care about when Pickles works or posts.

This thread was supposed to be informative and to give the opportunity for debate, if you have nothing new to add other than riddles and games then I will once again retire it until the spring.
