Felixstowe Docks in trouble?

  • Vinegartits, one last time the Port Of Felixstowe is not in trouble and will be announcing more good news very soon.

Pickles, everyone is in "trouble" at the moment and the next three months are going to be a bloodbath. It makes no difference what was agreed last year, last month, if the business isn't there, it isn't there. Workers will be excess to requirement and job losses will follow. The much hyped expansion will only go ahead while there is money to pay for it and money is going to be thin on the ground for the next year or so at least.

Do you think Woolworth's employees had much warning? Or Adams? Or do you think the company managers told them everything was just fine right up until they went under? It's time to grow up and fast and make sure you have a Plan B and some savings instead of just shouting as loud as you can that everything will be ok and hoping it's true.

Because everything is not ok and you know it: you conceded that the docks are quiet, that hauliers are going out of business, it is easy to show that other related businesses are going out of business, people are already losing their jobs and more job losses will follow - in fact, in dribs and drabs you have grudgingly conceded ALL of my points, so what is there left to discuss and why have you done a complete u-turn back to the "comapany" line of the same old "everything's rosy" spin?

I have had to conclude that you are very scared and very stupid and therefore there is absolutely no point in discussing this any further with you and I intend to let this thread die now. I will resurrect it in 3 months and we will see where we are then and who was right and who was wrong. For once I am hoping that I am wrong even though the writing is already on the wall.

I can confirm the port is going from strength to strength as the workforce achieved over £40 bonus for last week, It must be the only company in the UK that the less work you do the more bonus you get, but hey long may the lower volumes continue :j

I think the Titster is ignoring you mate, he said on another thread you have all the reasoning power and personal charm of a varruca, whatever that means:confused:
You can't win an argument with a stupid person.

I'm dyslexic ie I can't be @rsed to check for typos

Patience is a virtue Pickles; it will not happen overnight, my sources say a month. I also hear Felixstowe's Boots is closing soon, I'm afraid I don't have a time frame but the town is indeed looking more and more like a ghost-town.

£48 and more next week, £2500 a year just for doing our Job, shame no overtime though to add to it.

Docker, can you give us any more information about what is going on to counter what Pickles is saying about everything being as normal?

Mewbie, please don't be provocative, this new poster may indeed be someone else from the dock who wants to have their say.

I see your point that it is possibly just Pickles with another ID but give him a chance - you don't have to be like all the other forum members who always assume a new user is an old user with a new id.

I thought you were better than that.
