Appropos of nothing, looks like things are about to kick off big time::beer:

Ballot result for the pay talks.

Action short of strike = yes 93%
    no 7%

    Strike action = yes 85%
    no 15%

    Total votes 1676

Ok - at long last the management will now understand how we are all feeling

To see a once great institution like the Port of Felixstowe brought to its knees by the Suffolk militants is indeed a sad day. I remember sitting on my grandfathers knee and watching the great clipper ships sail into the docks with their precious cargoes of tea, cotton and CD players. The swarthy dockers would swarm all over the ship unloading, and sometimes nicking, everything of value.

I wonder what will become of these simple men now that the twin supports of life, the import business and BTL, have now collapsed in the Felixstowe area. Perhaps a CD of Pickles singing sea shanties would help the local economy.

Port workers vote in favour of strike

    Last updated: 3/22/2010 3:11:00 PM

WORKERS at Felixstowe Port have voted in favour of industrial action over pay which could potentially cripple work at the site.

However, management is hopeful that further talks with the Unite trade union will avert the threat of action over what they have described as a “generous and final” offer.

Members of Unite are understood to have voted decisively in favour of industrial action at the UK's largest container port over their pay claim. Blah blah blah.....

So far so dull but the big laughs are to be had in the comments section where things are getting heated:D:

"Sometimes i really do have to scratch my head on the mentality of the british worker...hasnt anybody told them that the country is in crisis times...Unemployment rampant...Loads of EEC people in this country prepared to work for half their wages. Stop burying your head in the sands...You have a very weak case as this time...Being unemployed doesnt pay many bills!!

(Now I like Felixstowe Docks but I also like Dockers, which is best?.....:D)
