Does anyone know of the best deal for the Sony KDL40W4000, the best I have seen is Richer Sounds at £747 inc 5 year parts and labor warranty? Or maybe I should wait for the Jan sales!

You missed the Richer Sounds one. It was 500 quid on Boxing Day (If memory serves correct)

I'm afraid the indulgences of the festive season did take their toll on your memory, aliEnRIK. :cool:

It was the Sony KDL-40V4000 that Richer Sounds was selling for £500 in its Boxing Day sale.

Their price for the KDL-40W4000 remained (and currently continues) at £700 - which is still a brilliant price for it.

The KDL-40V4000 in their sale was a special purchase by Richer Sounds to use as a headline item: they were an in-store only offer and each shop had about three to sell. The gentleman in front of me in the queue nailed one. I could have had their third but, to the very great relief of the guy behind me, I already had a television and so he got it!

My companion and I arrived at our local Richer Sounds shop at about 9:15 am on Boxing Day, 45 minutes before it was due to open. As stated, we weren't after a television but a couple of other items, instead, that weren't in the sale but stocks of which we were concerned might run out in the general mayhem. We found ourselves third in the queue, which then grew rapidly. By the time the shop did open it was about 100 long - jovial at the front but increasingly anxious towards the rear - so there must have been many hopeful but disappointed customers for those KDL-40V4000 Sonys!

John Lewis also had the Special purchase price on the Sony40V4000 of £499+free 5 year warranty on boxing day I think it was.

The 40W4000 is excellent value still at the current price as it was over £900 cheapest only a few months back.

The cheapest I saw it over christmas was for £680 delivered.
