Uninstalling Norton Antivirus

my PC came with a trial copy of Norton Antivirus. However, given I like the term 'free' I opted for the AVG Free Antivirus program instead (its free !)
I keep getting reminders about the Norton, but I can't uninstall it. For some reason it doesn't appear in the list of Add/Remove Programs - can anyone advise how I could remove it from my system ? thanks...

is there an uninstall program in the Nortons directory ??

there are removal tools on the site for early versions

Its all a haze.. I just searched for Norton in the Techie forum.

along a similiar line i uninstalled Norton antivirus 2005 with the removal tool on symantec's website but everynow and again a yeallow shield with an exclamatio mark comes up in the taskbar by the clock. When u move the cursor over it it says "downloading updates 0%" and it doesnt change from this. Im sure that this is some left over code from norton if so would anybody know how to remove this or to stop it coming up?
