We give the children some presents from 'santa' and the rest we tell them who they are from so they can say thank you. I do wonder if they will question that santa uses the same wrapping paper as us!!

I have thought this too, but he obviously sends his helpers to the same shops that we go to!

Yes very good response, I was going to say to the children (if asked) that santa obviously has very good taste, but the helpers shopping for him sounds a more valid response :)

When my children were younger everything was brought by Santa, but they had gift tags on from the relative/friend who had sent it.
Starting to save £2 coins again, but it is a struggle:rotfl:Not doing very well keep spending them

There was a thread about this last year and I was amazed how many do this! It seems very bizarre to me if I'm honest!

FC brings a stocking and one gift in this house. We give presents and relatives do to.

I feel is is darn rude to tell people they are not the 'true' giver of the gift they have bought tbh!! I certainly would not be amused!

Apart from anything else, I like my children to say thank you and learn about giving and receiving.

i think it is very important that children know the difference between santa pressies and those from family and friends so that the appropriate thankyous can be made. i was brought up to write thankyou notes (luckily santa always provided notelets) on boxing day. only i do appreciate thankyous from the children i buy for - even though i dont have any of my own.. it is nice to know a well thought out present is appreciated especially by a child who is often overwelmed with gifts in this season.

I always buy special paper just for Santa - otherwise I would have been sussed when LO was 5 or 6. Recently he's been pretending to believe again lol maybe 11 is not too old to want to keep the magic alive!

Isn't it more magical if FC appears with presents he has selected though?

It all seems a bit odd that you post (do you 'post' them?) presents to the North Pole so her can put them on his sleigh and bring them back again?
FC collects them, but my children are too logical for this, they would suggest cutting out the middle-man and having their gifts early:rolleyes: so mine haven't been told this.

Either FC selects the items or friend/relative orders them and then he delivers it xmas eve, but they are paid for by the person who the gift tag says it's from and that is who they thank.

That was working till 2 weeks ago, when my 8yo opened a cupboard he's never even noticed before and found them!

When I was little my asked for prezi came from FC, the others from whoever they came from & I did the same with my DD.
BUT I read on here about FC just giving a stocking & the main prezis coming from parents & I think thats a great idea.

So when my DD has children I will tell her that tip, stocking from FC;)

Father christmas used to bring us a sack of presents as well as a stocking full of tiny random things. These were bought by Santa and delivered by him.

Mum and dad / other family members used to give us presents that they bought themself. I prefer this as I thanked them.

One of my partners auntie used to say that all presents were from santa, so when she gave our neice a present she wrote 'from santa' on the tag. This actually confused our neice and asked why auntie B had forgotten about her. Cute little thing, lol.

  • any gifts that come from friends and family are jsut that, and if received b4 xmas eve go straight under tree (unless i know chocolate and then go in fridge/cupboard). FC leaves the stockings, BUT he delivers all the other gifts from me and OH - i have to send them to him, for his elves to wrap so he can bring back. this is how it was when i was little.
