  • Can the account be opened by you on his behalf ie you provide id and address confirmation and confirm to Halifax that he is your grandchild and where he lives

If you do mean Halifax Regular Saver , it is available for
UK resident personal customer only aged 16 and over
If you mean Halifax Children's Regular Saver , then this is just another example of their branches' staff incompetence:
    Childrens Regular Saver FAQ:
    What are Money Laundering Regulations?
In order to comply with current Money Laundering Regulations as an organisation we need to verify your identity. We may ask you to post/bring into branch items to confirm:

    Your identity e.g. address/name verification
The child's identity e.g. birth certificate, child's passport.

  • yes The Halifax childrens regular savings account
  • I think that you can use childs medical card to prove address, I have done so in the past. Hope this helps

    contact your local branch,

i recently opened an account for my middle daughter (who is 13), they asked for proof of address, passport, account details etc...... she doesnt have any.

so they said if i took in proof of me (passport), proof of my address (utility bill) and daughters birth certificate, then that would be fine.
smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to.... ;)
