Dea Cross Roads!! Help!!!

Hi all,
Been a while since I posted on this forum. Well, I seem to be at some sort of cross road really with my plans to run independently within the letting industry.
Therefore, I need some sort of direction or advice from some of the seasoned professionals on this forum.
I have just gained this qualification “NFOPP TECHNICAL AWARD IN RESIDENTIAL LETTING AND PROPERTY MANAGEMENT”
I now want to decide should I proceed with sales in this same qualification path, but the sales industry is presently bad and therefore I am not that keen on this for now but maybe in a year or two years time. What do you all think?
What I am now also considering of doing is to add more services as to what my intended letting agency will offer as I do not want to be just tied to just lettings or sales but will like to add something like
“DOMESTIC ENERGY ASSESSMENT” including HIPS.
The details are here http://www.nfopp.co.uk/qualifications/default.asp?id=8
But with a cost of about 2k to gain this qualification which is steep I ahve to say, what do people think in general.

Will it be considered as a good career path to follow and invest such an amount of money or what do you all think in your honest Opinions.
All genuine and honest opinion are welcomed.
Thanks all!

Hi Blueangel
I totally understand your interest and need to diversify. The DEA market is absolutely saturated at the moment, with in excess of 7000 assessors who will be looking to undercut any fee that you will be looking to agree with your landlords.
Why not hook up with a local energy assessor/HIP provider (check out www.ippa.org.uk where hip providers are compliance audited prior to membership being agreed - unlike other trade bodies whose only barrier to entry is the ability to write a cheque). You will then be in a position to agree a referal fee from the assessor/provider, and deal with local independents who will be familiar with the market in your area.
I currently work with letting agents and EAs in this very way - it works out well for both parties.0
