Volunteer Hospital Drivers

I cannot tell you how much I admire the people who give up there spare time to drive people to hospital for treatment especially as they are volunteers.
My mum has needed to go on a hundred mile round trip to hospital everyday for the last five weeks and everyday she has been taken by one of these lovely kind people. This has left me free to look after my disabled father who could not be left on his own.
I don't know what we would have done without them.

Thanks I am a helper on the local dial a ride service. Although we do have paid drivers if it wasnt for the volunteers the service would either be limited and cost much more. I give up 1 day week to help out.
I take people shopping that otherwise wouldnt get out. Athough that does cost the customer if they paid the going rate it would be far more.
We do get something out if it too, helping people has its rewards, just knowing we have helped.
Glad to hear you have had a good experince. If you ahvent done so already it would be nice to thank them by letter or call, its nice to be apprepiated with a thanks.

Totally agree. :A My mum has to go to hospital 3 times a week and she gets taken there and back by voluntary drivers. She is unable to use public transport due to mobility problems as well as not understanding english. I really appreciate the service that they selflessly provide.I have the mind of a criminal genius. I keep it in the freezer next to Mother....0
