Printer Sharing Between XP & Vista

Hi all,
I have two computers.
Oe is an XP operating system, the other is my newer one with Windows Vista.
My printer is a Lexmark All-in-One.
Excellent all rounder and I wouldn't want to use another printer cos this one to me does the job I require.

Just one problem.
My new computer doesn't recognise the all in one and lexmark minimum drivers do not allow my Vista printer to print from it.

I do have both computers connected to each other and sharing the same internet connection cos I wanted to share files between both of them.

My main issue here is the sharing part.
I have connected my printer to Vista, no joy.
I have installed my original driver to XP, no joy.
I have upgraded the printer driver in XP to accept Vista, no joy.
I have enabled printer sharing on both machines, no joy.
Tried rendering to client machine, no joy.
Uninstalled and re-installed both drivers many times to no joy.
Have seen XP prompt me to install new drivers for vista to work and vice versa to no joy.
I have searched for driver updates to no joy.

What am I missing here?
Can I connect to my printer over the internet?
I have tried typing in a gateway address sch as what ends 255.255 to no joy.

Does Lexmark have any universal drivers I may be able to use?

My alternative is to have my stuff copied onto word with a view to printing on the other machine, not so good when you have a web page or mail client you want to immdeiately print from.

I hope I have included as much as possible to get help for myself here.

Mr V.

:oIf I fail to thank you individually, I am sorry. Your advice was appreciated but may not have been 100% the result I was after.
