natwest mess up re icesave transfer

this morning i receive my online banking info from natwest after putting in my icesave isa into their account. so i go online and what have the idiots done. only put all of my money bar 3600 into the crappy savings account that i had to open in order to get the isa deal and put 3600 into the ISA. so i ring up india or katmandu and they say its cause the tax form hasnt gone through the system yet so they only put 3600 into my isa account.a mistake at their end. how !!!!!!! hard is it for them to do their job properly. not to mention the branch isnt even open so i cant go in and give them a peice of my mind. why do banks feel that the y can close on a saturday. when are most ppl supposed to go see them when they work aswell.

Presumably, when the tax form goes through, they will transfer the rest of the money back into the ISA? That would seem preferable to them holding onto the cheque until the rest of the paperwork went through.

i guess so. its just so annoying. why cant ppl just do things properly.as if i havnt had enough to worry about over the last few months. you can bet if i hadnt rung up the money would be sat in a standard savings account for god knows how long.

i thought they couldnt do that anyway interms of putting the money into another account and an isa would then lose its tax free status because its been put into a normal account.

I believe Natwest was advising people that they could pay the money into another Natwest account and that it would be transferred on receipt of the relevant paperwork.

Edit: Did you actually receive a cheque from the FSCS, because I thought payments were made electronically to your (non-ISA) linked account in the first place anyway?

no not a cheque it was electronic

anyway went into the branch today and it turns out the stupid cashier just put the money directly into my account when it needed to go to the guy who was setting up the isa so he can send it or the paper work to the tax office or whatever it is they do. so thats why they only put 3600 into my account instead of the full transfer amount. hes now getting onto the tax office to have me reinbursed and the money put back into my ISA. have to say natwest are crap.their customer service is useless. and i spent 15 mins talking to another of their customers saying the same thing while i was waiting to be seen.
