Is it possible to lock my PC to stop others from accessing it? No- one can get into the internet without my password but all of the other systems can be used and changed via Microsoft start up. I have a very good reason for wanting to lock up everything.

Hit Control,Alt & Delete all together and select "lock this computer" then use your password to resume.

Thank you for that Moneysaver, I've just tried it and it works. One question, do I need to keep my pc switched on or can I just switch off ? Not very techy you see lol:TYou live..You learn.:)0

that method only works whilst PC swithched on you can use password protection via the users set-up but only good for locking out the casual user as anyone with simple knowledge can bypass it.I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.0

Aside from the user account passwords to get in to the operating system, many motherboards (BIOS) support password locks.
A motherboard lock has the beauty of not allowing the PC to start without the correct password. It can still be bypassed, but not so easily as the operating system passwords!
WORD OF WARNING - to enable the BIOS based passwords you will need to enter the motherboard setup at system boot (usually by pressing 'DEL' or "F2". Changing some settings in there wrongly can cause serious and permanent damage to your PC.0 -
If you only want to prevent Internet access, then give this a try http://www.sharewareconnection.com/internet-password-lock.htm
Not used it myself so don't know if it is any good.

Another way is to use a screensaver with a password.0
