It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.

if it wasnt for MSE i'd still have my head firmly stuck in the sand dreading phone calls and knocks at door. It sometimes takes a simple thing to make life changing attitudes. Thanks MSE and all you posters on here0

If it wasn't for this site.......
I'd not have saved £160 on my home insurance per year - would have just stayed with the same lender.
Nor would I have thought to ring NTL up and ask for any freebies going plus get rid of my second line saving me £168 for the next year.
I'd never have thought to ring my mobile up and treaten to leave ( was on a roll that morning) and save myself another £60 in the process.
I'd also never have thought to go online with my gas/elec saving myself another £10.
My life insurance would have been with the same old insurer - now I've got another £10K on it for 10p less a month - ok so not a mega saving.
I'd have never have thought I can tackle my overdraft by meal planning and not frittering away money in the supermarket. Thanks to pages of Tesco codes I'll never pay delivery for at least 6 months!
I'd never have thought to do a financial spring clean and ditch several unused CC to take temptation out of my way.
But best of all I'd never have felt as empowered to sort things out as I do now. I don't log into my bank account now with a stiff drink waiting to see what horrors abound in there! Now I know to the last pound how much is in there and what DD is coming out next.
To everyone on here and to Martin Thank You0 -
...i would be paying out a lot more than i am. savvier shopping etc means i have chopped my contract fone down by £15 per month (but increased txt and mins), not to mention saving on all my utilities etc!!!November NSD's - 70

IF IT WASN'T FOR THIS SIGHT I WOULDN'T HAVE......
-changed gas and electric supplier
-moved my calls to talk talk from BT (should earn £25 for doing both the above as went through cashback site)
-had the confidence to apply for a 4.9% LOB transfer card having previously been turned down for the first time for credit
-started snowballing
-found comprehensive spreadsheets to work out my interest payments each month
-started, and persevered with, shopping at Lidl!
-spent so much time on the computer in the last 2 months.0 -
down to this site i now have a pension, i bargin search everywhere lol and i have put much more (than i used to) into savings and that has been in the last two months lol, i love to see what i will be saving this year due to this site
thanks mse0 -
I was a lurker on this site for the first few months. But seriously started to put some of the money saving tips into effect from September 2005.
In four months I estimate to have saved at least £300
Big savings made using coupons at Tesco, now signed up to wine club, clothing club, heathly eating club to receive extra points.
Savings made on O2 Sim treats for all family, saving DD at uni. a fortune
New phone received from Orange despite being on OVP plan
0% credit card taken out
many many freebies
thank you to everyone who keeps posting these great money saving ideas.0 -
Would never have had the nerve to complain about the unacceptably slow service at a restaurant today..............and as a result get £25 off the bill!!
I wasn't even paying some friends were as a thank you to me for looking after their children overnight last night while they went out. When I told them I was going to try for a discount, they were too embarrassed to stay and watch but they were very grateful for a third off the total bill!!
:T0 -
Also - if it wasn't for this site I would have been paying a fortune in interest instead of having ALL my remaining debt at 0% interest rate.
Thanks Martin, that means every penny I pay back goes off my debt instead of adding to the banks' already massive profits x0
