Hi folks,
apologies firstly for having a similar type of question previously, it's just that I am on the verge of buying a desktop now and just want to know whether to go for the Dell 3100 or Dell 5150.
In an nutshell, what are the limitations regarding upgrading these two computers / the main difference between them?? I suppose the most i may want to do is downloadiing some video stuff & then probably cut & pasting it & burning it onto a dvd (Not exactly high tech eh !!)
I have thought about the 1100 but I understand that has a lot of limitations re graphics (is it inbuilt or something) whereas the 3100 & 5150 you can buy graphics cards for.
Thanks in aticipation of your replies :-)

Hi
As far as I can see, its just the number and the casing that are different, look here. http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/products/compare.aspx/dt_advanced?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&s=dhs
By the way, I have the 5150, I upgraded to a better graphics card, no problems so far.
Don't forget if your not bothered about a 3yr warranty, select 12 months collect and return, it'll save you over £100
Hope this helps0 -

That's what my old one was like. When this turned up I thought I hadn't switched it on properly. It's amazing what you learn to live with until you know better!:smileyhea0

Hi
I have noticed with the 5150, that it was very quiet at first, but the hd's got nosier as I've filled it up, 250gb hd, I just put this down to longer time to find programs, once its found the program, then it spins down and becomes very quiet again and yes sometimes I can't even hear that its on.
Mine came with the 19" lcd monitor, which is excellent. before I had an old Hansol 17" tft, no comparision really0
