The box offices at Academy Music group venues (the O2 - formerly Carling - Academy venues, and the Shepherds Bush Empire) can sell you tickets for any other one of their venues, with no booking fee if you pay by cash.

This is especially handy if you're in London, and don't fancy a trek across town for tickets, but happen to be near one of their other venues.

(Some of the box offices are only open on show days - info on their websites.)

there really can't be a discussion on "cheap" concert tickets, as the price is set when the tickets go on sale.

If you don't buy one then, and forget, then you end up having to source one from supposedly unethical sources. and yes, i think that ebay is unethical and shouldn't even be considered!
  • I've started to opt for 'Box Office Collection' to cut down on my fees. Save a few quid.

Ticketweb.co.uk tend to offer BOC on their purchases, although they don't do all venues. It's a UK-wide site though. :)
No signature here. Move along please.

I've had some problems with this lately though - so many people were picking up at the box office, and the staff were going so slowly, that I've missed support acts that I wanted to see.
  • Try Needtickets.com. They search all ticket sellers for best deals, seats etc.

  • Getting out to the small venues for bands that should really be playing bigger venues working out well - seen both Howling Bells and Pure Reason Revolution at small venues in the last couple of weeks - not only great shows but nice price tickets! Fed up with waiting online for the 'big' gig ticket bunfight, missing out only to find hundreds posted on eBay minutes later at crazy prices (AC/DC anyone?) - or getting through on the phone the supposed minute tickets go on sale only to find the best they can offer is Row S!
  • Needtickets not bad at all - if it wasn't for their newsletter I'd have missed out on the Tubes London gig - no other ticket site gave them a mention! Another small venue/big band gig - they're getting on mind...
  • V, The National Young Volunteers Service are giving away free festival tickets to volunteers who are between the ages of 18-25 and who will volunteer 4 hours of their time.

There is also a double decker bus and if you are an up and coming DJ or in a band you can perform on the bus and give up some of your time to teach people at the festivals your skills.

    The festivals are:
    - Isle of Wight
    - T4 on the beach
    - Relentless Board Masters
    - V Festival
    - Creamfields

For more information search for vinspired - Summer of Give.
