xmas delivery rant!

Options
Has anyone else had lots of problems with Christmas deliveries this year or is just me that has had a run of bad luck!!

I ordered 2 hampers from M&S - both arrived damaged (prob as packaging wasn't good) so no use as xmas gifts - rang CS to arrange return & replacements and told items out of stock now so they would send me a gift card so that I could go instore to get alternatives - 12 days on now, after making my 3rd phone call to them today (and previously being told twice that the card had been sent out) they tell me they haven't posted it out yet so it might not be with me for Christmas after all (Manager I spoke to was very nice though and said she would refund the cost of one hamper as well as send the gift card).

I placed my first order with Littlewoods at start of December - 3 for 2 offer - free item was broken so called to arrange delivery of replacement and return of faulty one (had to pay but will be refunded I was told). Replacement was delivered but was broken too so had to call them again to arrange another return (also have to call them back in a few days they said to get the cost of the item refunded as they have to charge me when they send it out). Finally received a working replacement after waiting in again today.

Placed an online toy order with Wilkinsons to be delivered to the store 2 weeks ago - went to the store twice to collect but they couldn't find it - I called CS, seems that my order was put out onto store shelves and now some items are out of stock:eek: - called in again to collect items that had been retrieved. Staff were very nice and contacted other stores to arrange delivery of replacement items. Went back to the store today to collect final items (4th visit!) and they are still not all there (wish I had paid postage now!!)

Ordered High School Musical item from Amazon at end of October - called them as didn't arrive when stated - do these guys have the worst customer services or what? - I was basically told I might get it or I might not get it before Christmas as it could be in stock but it might not be????what??! I checked the website and the item details had been changed to say that it was only being released in January which is utter rubbish as it has been on sale (but is now sold out) at GAME, Argos etc. Checked my account today and estimated dispatch date is now Feb!! - just wish they had contacted me to let me know I wouldn't get it when stated as I would have looked elsewhere for the item.

I had also ordered an ipod from Next and got a call yesterday saying that they had no stock and would not be able to fulfil the order before Christmas - at least they contacted to let me know though

Oh well, rant over - feels good to get it out though!! Think I'll give the online ordering a miss next year!!
- hope everyone else has had more luck than me :)

    What a nightmare!!

A run of bad luck like that would put me off ordering online for life.

My only recent problem was with Amazon where I ordered an item with free delivery. For some reason they sent it first class and I received it the next day but they had charged an additional £5.87 on my CC. When I called their CS they were very helpful, apologised and refunded the £5.87 to my CC

  • I ordered some books from Waterstones on 30th of November (thought I was being organised by ordering in November). They were sent by Royal mail on the 1st December. Nothing had arrived by 16th December (last Tuesday) so I phoned customer services who said they would send replacement books free of charge by 1st class post. I know Royal Mail is slower over Xmas but they still have not arrived by today. :(

I also ordered coffee online which was sent on 08th December via courier.
Had not arrived by today so I contacted them and they said the courier had left a card on the 9th (I was away that day but I did not get any card) they said the courier had received a redelivery request on the 16th and redelivered the parcel signed for with my name at 16:59 on the 17th. Well I didn't receive a card so it was not me who requested redelivery and I was here at that time on the 17th and did not receive or sign for any delivery!! The coffee comapny is as puzzled as I am and are trying to work out what happened but they roast to order and the machines were turned off today for the Xmas and New Year holidays. :(

On the plus side I ordered some stuff from http://www.vit-shop.co.uk today and it was dispatched within an hour of ordering! :T Just hope it turns up as they too use Royal Mail.

    - was good of Waterstones to send out replacement books for you - hope they have arrived :)

As for the coffee - what a nightmare - have they confirmed that the courier had the correct address details? - maybe you could ask to see a copy of the signature - it might help??
