Has anyone ever used the LED GU10 bulbs, can you say how bright they are?
Also any other info you might think could be useful.
I have 15 GU10 bulbs in my kitchen, so the idea of a cheaper to run bulb sounds good.

Went to WIckes today to look at their spotlight fittings. WHY WHY WHY do all of their fittings and bulbs rate at 230V???

Mains voltage in this country was traditionaly 240V. It's being reduced to line up with mainland europe to (I think) 220v (so we can all use the same kit, not to connect together). Anything rated at 220vAC to 250vAC should work fine in the UK.
  • I have had short lifespan problems with GU10 bulbs and even spoke with a number of electricians about these bulbs blowing after such a short period of time.

Their general advice was not to go for the cheap GU10s as this is false economy.

In the end I fitted low energy GU10s which are only 7 watts each but very bright, rated 10,000 hours. The flip side is that they are costly at £9 each .... but do last 10 times+ longer.

The LED bulbs that I have seen are not bright enough to use for general lighting at the moment. As they develop and improve LEDs seem to be way forward for the future with very low energy consumption.
