maths keystrokes

My kids asked me what the key stroke for recurring numbers was. It looks likw a raised dot . I tried different key strokes on my laptop with no joy. Then I thought of you lot

    Highlight the number.
    Insert > Symbol
    In the top right corner, on Subset: Choose Combining Diacritical Marks
    Find the dot, when you highlight it it should be called "COMBINING DOT ABOVE"

    It's generally accepted that 0.333... is the notation used to denote an infinitely recurring decimal.

    I assume the symbol you are referring to is where the dot is directly above the recurring decimal. There is no standard ascii notation for this unless you can find a specific Math type font set for use in Word etc etc. I have always used LaTeX for my Math documentation but that in itself is a discipline to learn to use.
