Hi!
I'm being posted to Germany in the new year, and I was just wondering if you guys might be able to help me find out what allowances I am entitled to. Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas!

well all depends where your living in relation to camp

    but you'll get LOA

    Cheap fuel
    Cheap booze
    Cheap Fags
    Cheap new cars

But with the euro being so strong against the pound I don't think you'll be feeling rich like most people do in Germany
If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly

I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right

If you are in the armed forces i am shocked you have not been told what your entitled to.
Your not married because the family liason officer would have set you up with married quarter's.
And unless i miss my mark you are a new recruit so i don't understand why a NCO has not explained what the score is with a new posting.

    Auf Wiedersehen.

My man has just completed the Phase 2 training and is being posted to Germany in a few weeks. He hasn't been told anything - just told to look at JPA or is it JPS - which isn't the most user-friendly manual! He is totally confused
Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.

    Are you married?

We are living in MQ's and my hubby is just coming to the end of his phase 2. We haven't been told anything yet about where or when we'll be posted, nor has he been given a preference sheet ( if thats what you call them! ) lol.

Not married no. And i'll be staying here in the UK for the time being - for a few reasons - not being married is prob the biggest of them though!

Mr CG has known from pretty early on that he is going to Germany so that was a relief that we knew where and wasn't too much faffing about. And Germany isn't too far - a short plane journey... I digress from subject in hand.

He always tells me about meetings etc that he has been to and shares all information as it comes in so that I can go off and do my own research and source more information, but regards to pay etc - there has been nothing forthcoming. I stupidly printed off the JPA (which is 700 pages long) so that I could read it and understand - but it could be written in arabic for the amount I understand!!! I sometimes visit RearParty (ooooh er missus) and ARRSE but never really post for fear of being blasted! Others have asked similar questions and the responses have been - look at the JPA, which doesn't make sense to me! So, I know nothing about this but don't want him to loose out cos we can't figure it out.

Not sure what the next step is... any ideas?

    Mrs CG,

Is it his pay you want to know about? You can IM me if you want as I work in my husbands Regimental Headquarters on the camp he's at, and don't want to put where or what cap badge that is on a public forum, but I may be able to help you out?

My hubby is away on exercise just now, but we're both hoping when he comes back that they'll let us know something!

I often read on ARRSE and RearParty, but never post either! xx
  • This is a really useful guide (in slightly plainer English) for allowances: http://www.nff.org.uk/pdfdocs/allowances_guide2.pdf.

It doesn't necessarily have the amounts, but tells you the phrases you need to know.

also look at setting up a german bank account to get money paid into. This will save paying out a charge each time he withdraws money.
