The quote was from the FSCS and relating to a statement regarding the FSCS....:p

True, but what the FSCS covers is a little off-topic for this thread. I wouldn't want anyone being misled that your statement would apply to Anglo-Irish, since it is covered by a different scheme.

Are they, I thought they were outside the FSCS scheme !
They are regulated by the UK FSCS.

regulated yes, but not for deposit protection, as the Irish deposit protection is 100%

The only real safeguard is the fact that the UK government has not, to date, allowed any UK depositors money not to be repaid.

thats not so much a safeguard, as a "fingers crossed, hope for the best"...... (as is all deposit protection)

Not true - look at UK depositers who had savings in the Isle of Man with Icesave and Kaupthing Edge, did they get all their money back ?

The Isle of Man is not part of the UK, nor is it a member of the EEC, but it enjoys some of the benefits of EEC membership via its UK crown dependency status. The Ise of Man ofshoots of Icesave and Kaupthing were not regulated by the FSCS, whereas Anglo Irish Bank is.

Steve - in that case you mean depositors in the UK banking system, not UK depositors
