Ethernet doorbell - any recommendations?

....................What current is Ethernet cable designed for?
Don't know without looking it up (haven't got the time now) but you could use 4 & 5 as one leg and 7 & 8 as the other leg of the pair.
Can you be certain that the bell push current won't cross talk or interfere with the Ethernet signal and screw it up everytime someone presses the bell?
No but it's worth a try as data is already being sent/received down the cable. Surely it would just need to request a resend if data was occasional corrupted. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
The request to resend mentioned here is not a user action. Lost packets on a TCP/IP network will be resent automatically.0

Just a thought, unless you put superglue on the doorbell then the delivery man may well have given up by the time you answer the door so the problem remains he same.
I suggest you investigate a video/intercom solution, probably one that you can connect to via ip, so at least you can ask him to hang on.0 -
why not put a sign on front door with your mobile number, or ask delivery peeps to try the garden if no response?Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)0 -
I'm sure you can buy range extenders for wireless doorbells. Have a look in B&Q.
Or work out which bits of the doorbell are the transmitter/receiver and solder a piece of radio antenna wire to them.0 -

You might want to use something like this that espresso said, split the ethernet cable into 2 cables in 1!
