Current Account for Travelling

Hi
I am off travelling round the world for 6 months and so need a way to get free access to my money (my Natwest student account charges are extortionate) - having read all the travel forums on here, I went for the Nationwide Flex Account and Abbey Zero Credit Card.
BUT: Having just graduated and not had a steady income, I was rejected for both and now am stuck!!!
My priority is getting money out of ATMs for free and if possible using chip and pin but the latters not so crucial (neither is the credit card).
The pre-paid cards look good but only available in $/Euros and I'm going all over the place, so am I right in thinking those aren't suitable?
Does anyone have any ideas on my best next move?!! Im getting desperate, leave a month yesterday!!!
Thanks!

Assuming the Nationwide Cash Card also allows you to take money out abroad try applying for that. It's easier to get than the Flexaccount. You could also ask your parents if they are willing to open an account and let you use it.0

Yeah, go for the basic Nationwide account, my friend did that, although I think she got a very basic one as I don't think she had a debit card, just a card you can take to the atm.0

The nationwide cashcard can be used abroad i have one which is not the debit card just a red cash card and have used it in numerous places abroad.0

Brilliant, thanks for the advice, will go chat to them about it (the normal 10-14 days to sort out do you reckon?)
With regards to using an account in my mum/dads name - that would be perfect but is there any danger of me getting caught out for 'fraud' as in theory, I would be pretending to be my mum/dad when using it in shops etc ie. the shop believes they are dealing with Mr X when in fact they are not.
