Will I be charged? please help.

I have transferred £700 onto a 0% card for 12 months but my car needed urgent work this month and I paid £200 using this card which isn't 0% on purchases. I intend to pay the £200 off at the end of the month but will they take that off the balance and charge me interest on the £200 until the whole amount is paid off? please help!

  • It depends on what your current interest rate for purchases is. Is it new card? Some include a 0% on purchases for say, three months. But if that's not part of the promotion then yes, I'm afraid it's likely they'll apply any payments you make to the £700 balance.

It's best to call and ask them directly (or check the paperwork you got with the card as it will be there somewhere).

  • ts a new barclaycard pulseone, they rang me and I'm sure they said I could have 2 months 0% on purchases but after that will they still charge me on the balance?
  • The problem is all credit cards are different in how they apply the payments so it depends on your individual T&Cs. Which of course they can change whenever they want.

Sorry you can tell I'm completely cynical at the moment after what's happened to me.

Once my credit cards are paid off I'm never borrowing another penny. It's so far out of the customer's control it's unbelievable!

  • I totally understand. In fact I have £700 in savings and I'm tempted to use it to pay my card off in full and start the year without a penny in savings but debt free but that is scary!
