Looking for a sub £300 laptop for my mum for xmas, It's her 1st pc and she only wants to do the basics.

the ebuyer one would be slightly faster. neither have enough ram to run vista properly.

sorry, either of them would be fine.
It depends how impatient your mum is. Ideally Vista needs 2 gig of ram to run itself and applications but it will work ok for email, internet access and other basic stuff.

If she takes up graphic design, photo editing or video editing then she'll need something more powerful.
