mine says that but then it turns itself on... but I am not sure as well...Use your judgement, and above all, be honest with yourself.I walk with the world & the world walks with me!I don't make bad choices!!! Other people just fail to see my GENIUS !!!!0

Is this when you first turn the system on?
If you check the icons on the taskbar by the clock when you start the computer you will see the icons come up one a time...this is auto strat programs loading. Sometimes windows security centre will load before norton does and therefore will tell you your system is not protected. If you do not click the message ballon you will find it will dissapear once the norton icon appears.Welcome, rogerramjet.

Hi
This was a known bug with Symantec Anti-Virus Corporate Edition, prior to version 9-1000. Can you confirm which version your using? The latest one is 10.1007.

I have also had this and I have the 2005 version. It appears initially on starting up but then when you go into Norton AV it states it is switched on. Not too worried about it as I assumed the message was coming up prior to Norton AV getting itself going.0

This also happened to me a few weeks ago. I had to uninstall my anti virus for another reason but when I reintsalled it and updated it the problem disappeared :j0

I am not even sure which version I have it says version 9.0.0.338 does this make sense?

I have live updates which are all up to date so I guess my puter is protected...
Thanks#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

On my machine this started a few months ago, after one of the "Second Tuesday" Microsoft Updates. I believe it happens because the Microsoft "Security Center" now checks for the presence of an antivirus program too rapidly, before it has actually started up. As other people report, the message seems to disappear after a few seconds (five or so?). I just ignore it now, since I know that NAV is active, or will be very shortly...

Tanith - you as I suspected. Version 9.0.0.338 is the version prior to 9.0.0.1000 - you need to get an upgrade from Symantec very soon.
They have since upgraded to version 10.0.0.1007 - if you can get this, that'd be great. This is your problem.Only Irish coffee provides in a single glass all four essential food groups: alcohol, caffeine, sugar, and fat.

Sorry to be so thick, my son built this puter for me and he fixes stuff that goes wrong usually but he is 'busy with life' so its down to me .... and I really am a novice...
You say I need the new version , does this mean I have to buy it or is it downloadable ? Thanks for taking the time...#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j
