Before anyone says google it or anything, I am wanting opinions from persons who have any of the above, along with the advantages that you are receiving by having a static or dynamic IP address.
Thanks people.

I deliberately chose to have a static IP from my supplier, as I was planning to set up an FTP server where I could access data remotely while diagnosing problems "in the field". I believe it's possible to run your own FTP/webserver with a dynamic IP address, but it's more complicated.
I guess the downside of a static address is that some people might want to be able to force a change of their IP address, perhaps for privacy reasons, or perhaps if a competition website tracks entries on the basis of IP address?0 -
Static adresses are great if you want to run
webserver
ftp server
use PCanywhere for remote access to your pc
Stream video and/or audio
control items in your house remotely
all the above can be done with dynamic ip address but is far far easier with static0 -
If you have a dynamic IP address you can simply go to http://www.no-ip.com/ and register for a free sub domain from one of their domain lists.
They then supply you with a free download that runs in the windows/linux start and will update the domain when ever it sees a change in the IP address.
Some routers also support the auto update for you. This british heart foundation needs you.

From a security point of view, a dynamic IP address is more secure than a static one. A dynamic one assigns a new IP address everytime you reconnect to your ISP. This means that if someone has found a vulnerability, they can only really keep coming back to have a go as long as you're on the same IP address.0

I have a static IP address. You are more likely to be traced that way though. For me I see no advantage of having one, I get one with my ISP including in the package0

I disagree with the PCAnywhere one. Not that software specifically but for remote login I use www.logmein.com all the time with static and dynamic IPs and there's pretty much no set up to it at all. You simply set up an account, install and then use. Makes no difference if it's on dynamic IP. I'm sure for the other things there's equally easy software to use (filezilla server for example for FTP)."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
