Hello im not sure if i can do anything and if i can as to what, so i would like some input from someone else who maybe has had this problem and what they done or what i can do.
i have a 37inch lcd samsung tv still under 12 months guarentee, now when i change channels or goto the blue screen i have a few permanent black dots that wont clear. I assume this is broken pixels and it is the start of major problems pixel issues.
Can i claim on the guarentee or am i over reacting and this is normal. I know i do not notice the black dots when i watch the telly, just a little woried that in 6 months time there will be loads of permanent dots.

In my experience, it's normal to see a few stuck/dead pixels, particularly on the bigger screens, and usually they are like that from manufacture. Generally they don't seem to get worse with time.
What is more common as they get older is that vertical lines can appear where the edge connection(s) start to break down. This often will get worse with time, and should be addressed under warranty asap if you start to see them.0 -
There is an ISO standard that lists the number of dead/stuck pixels and in what area coverage that constitutes it being defective. Its not zero and is quite a high figure - in the dozens AFAIR.0

Samsung use the standard iso 13406-2

I had my Samsung done 3 years ago. It had 37 dead pixels. They took it a way a 3rd party and it came back a week later with a new panel0 -

Personally I have a pioneer which ive had for 1.5 years with no dead pixels at all.:idea:0 -
I have seen quite a few pixels that have been stuck in the on position on half a dozen monitors. I have found that you can persuade them to go off by gently tapping the pixel with your finger nail a couple of times.

Warm cloth pressing gently, rubbing in circles can also help too.0
