DVD player not finding disc

Not sure if the correct forum, but was wondering if anyone could help with a problem I have with my DVD player.

Each time we put a DVD disc into the slot on the screen the message comes up as 'No Disc' and we are unable to play the movie.

Any ideas, or should we just buy a new player?

Model is Acoustic Solutions TE-118A DVD player.

1: How many different discs have you tried? Presumably you've tried more than one, and made sure they're all clean and free of scratches.

2: Try using a laser lens cleaner. You can pick them up pretty cheaply nowadays, if you don't have one already.

If that doesn't do the trick then you're probably looking at getting a new player. Fortunately you can pick them up for pocket money these days...

Theyre really cheap dvd players, so its possible its goosed
But id first try a lense cleaning disc. if that doesnt work (And if you feel upto it), take the lid off and try to clean away and dust and grime thats around the mechanism

If it's the same with every DVD, and not just one specific one, it's probably dead. My dad's Acoustic Solutions DVD player died in exactly that way a few months ago - I took it apart but it wasn't fixable without replacing the drive mech.

Fortunately they aren't very expensive these days. Just remember - avoid Acoustic Solutions...
