hi!

example! :A ok, so maybe i could stretch to a bit more than £200 if i have to...

im going to be without a car for 6 weeks. bus/ train journeys for essential travel only (not including social visits, outings etc) will be at least £200 in that time- plus v inconvenient- so i need a motor. hiring (a punto!) would be £900!

havent had chance to scour everywhere yet, so if anyone is [STRIKE]really bored[/STRIKE] feeling helpful and knows of one going cheap could you let me know? preferably dorset, or somerset/ devon/ hampshire/ wiltshire?

ps: bigger is better ;) , take it im asking too much for 7/8 seats though  :rotfl:

  • i would imagine a reallyy cheap car would be a false economy, it could be a total heap and you would spend money fixing it

    spend a bit more

what for 6 weeks? surely there must be something out there for £200 that would last that long? :D

    .....i had a £400 xr2 last 20 months with only 1 bulb and 1 exhaust bracket! -and sold it for £200 :j

youre right though there seems to be a lot around for around the £500, and to be honest that would probably equate to almost free driving cos youd be able to sell it on for pretty much the same price im sure....

in this case (ie xmas-dont have £500 available in the next few days) im happy to buy something that can be sold on as spares or taken to the scrappy for £30 :A

yeah, there just doesnt seem much around on there atm, or at least not near me- still looking though....

re local papers- last time i was looking at selling (bout 9 mths ago) local paper was £42 with pic, £20 just linage! ......so probably not the place to sell dirt cheap. they used to be parked in known areas on the side of the road with the price in the window, all lined up- easy buying! ..until the local busybodies clamped down on it in a big way, so i dont know where they all end up now?

no i meant buy something for a bit more, then you could probably sell for the same or a bit more if you give it a good clean and tidy it all up

Love the look of the volvo 760GLE. Only problem is the likely insurance cost for one of those. Luxo barge bangernomics :D

£200 can get you a half-decent car if you're careful. With scrap metal prices rock bottom the cheapest cars should be that little bit cheaper now - remind them how much it's likely to be worth as scrap when haggling :D
