Extending a wireless signal

I have an excellent wireless signal in the house I've just moved into (ie -it's just there, not through a router),but only in one spot in the house. Can I "transmit" this through the house,is it a booster or range extender I need or just an antenna for the laptop?

What's the make of the router? some have "extended antenna" (twice the size of the regular one) which you can buy and are supposed to give you better range / signal.

Also the location of the router affects the signal (so move it to the centre of the house) also thick walls and wires affect the signal strength.

you can but extenders but try the cheap simple stuff first :D

If you are seeing someone else's wifi signal and it isn't a known-free one such as FON or McDonalds etc then you are breaking the law because you are stealing someone else's network connection.

if you want to extend your range, try powerline LAN. I've just put this in for a B&B and it works a treat.

Buy a normal powerline plug, plug your wifi router/router in to it and then plug a wifi powerline plug in anywhere else in your house.

Just because someone has not secured their wireless network, does not mean that you should use it!
