How long does it take for the paperwork/card etc to come through after submitting the application online and getting the acceptance email.
I am going away over new year and wanted to make use of the accounts free annual travel insurance.

I recently applied for the current account with A&l and they took forever, first they send you the agreement to sign and return, that took nearly a week to receive after applying online, eventually i got the cheque book, a few days after that the card, which you have to activate by phone, then the pin arrived, it took nearly 3 weeks from when i first applied. Then realised i needed to order the online banking password, which took another week, i only got the account because you can pay in cash and cheques at the post office which is nearer me than the branches i have other accounts at (natwest and halifax) i then transfer the money to my main account.
I don't think you will be up and running in time for your hol, even if you go into branch.0 -
Thanks, bloody hell that does seem a long time though. I thought we were going into 2009 not 1979.0

It does take a while, and I would do your direct debits/standing orders yourself. I've had mine 6 weeks and only 2 out of 16 direct debits have been set up.0

All I can say is make sure you don't go a few pence over your limit while you're away unless you like hemorrhaging your money into your bank's wallets. They a) don't let you know the full amount they will take b) give you no buffer like others c) don't really give an expletive about their customers
Also don't expect transactions such as transfers to show up on their online banking straight away like all other services I've seen/used.
The 1979 joke wasn't far off the truth with this bank, I'd avoid avoid avoid and go with a recognised international bank with a bit of customer care and sense. Also, their prices for things are going through the roof!
Just my 0.02 groats.if i had known then what i know now0 -
seems maybe the way it works has changed, this morning i received the pin number, internet banking details and a letter saying the card is on its way.
