Play.com is a company that is located off shore and this is why every item that you buy direct from play has a customs declaration on it for when it enters the UK

surely as you are buying from within the UK and they are actively selling in the UK they must conform with UK purchasing rules?The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits0

You need to read the terms of the site and follow the procedure it sets out for buyers. If you've a complaint about what you've bought using the PlayTrade area, you contact the seller and try to resolve the problem and get your refund. If a refund is not forthcoming and the seller has breached the terms they have signed up to (one would hope they have if they are seemingly selling fake goods), then there is a FairPlay guarantee to look into;
5.1.1 The FairPlay guarantee is the term used to ensure that buyers may shop with confidence on PlayTrade. It represents a refund of a purchase to a buyer in the event that the buyer is unable to resolve a dispute with a seller.
5.1.2 All PlayTrade purchases are guaranteed under the FairPlay guarantee provided that the buyer has conformed to our Usage Policy and Code of Conduct laid out here.
5.1.3 In the event of a dispute with a seller you are obliged to attempt to resolve this dispute to the best of your ability with the respective seller, including contacting the seller first and foremost using the “contact seller” button in your order history.
5.1.4 In the event that you are still unable to resolve the dispute with the seller you may appeal to us for a refund under the FairPlay system. PlayTrade will examine your case within in a reasonable time frame. You may at our discretion be required to submit further information regarding the sale and warrant that the information you provide is fair and true.
5.1.5 You are obliged to return the item to the seller in the event that it is defective or not as described by the seller, or in the event that you claim non-delivery of an item which subsequently arrives.
5.1.6 You may only make one FairPlay claim per item.
5.1.7 The FairPlay guarantee does not apply to purchases which have been refunded in full or which have been subjected to a 'chargeback' by your credit card, or purchases from sellers who are subsequently declared bankrupt, liquidated or placed into administration.
5.1.8 Buyers are restricted to three lifetime FairPlay claims. Buyers who have submitted three lifetime FairPlay claims are not eligible to buy from PlayTrade sellers although they may at the discretion of Play.com be eligible to continue to buy from Play.com. We will take such measures as are necessary to ensure compliance with this restriction.After posting about receiving an email to my MSE username/email from 'Money Expert' (note the use of ' '), I am now unable to post on MSE. I totally agree that most of the items on play trade come from within the uk but the original poster seems to think that play.com should deal with his problem
They bought the item from a private seller who is using play trade as a selling platform so their complaints should be directed to the seller of the dvd and not to play.com, if the seller wont deal with his concerns then they should go to play

Thanks vetfred. I made my written complaint to the seller Thursday morning. Play.com have insisted that I allow three days for the seller to respond. After that the Fairplay guarantee may kick in!! Its a shame really as I've used them several times before, but certainly won't be again! I've heard nothing from the seller as yet and I'm not holding my breath!0
