Hi
I've just received my new laptop and I'm trying to set it up on my BT Home Hub wireless network and I can't do it! I've never used Windows Vista before so this is all very new to me. Do I need to install the BT software, i've still got the disc somwhere?
I've googled it and I can't find anything and I've had a look through the wireless sticky on here but I'm not sure which thread I need to look at
I'm on my laptop now, connected with an ethernet.
Any help would be much appreciated

Click the Windows button and click the Connect To button
should show you a list of available networks , your home hub should be one of them , then clcik connect
do you not see your hub at all ??Ex forum ambassador

No my hub doesn't show at all. Its weird because my iPhone isn't connected to the hub either and I haven't changed anything. All i've done is take the ethernet out of my PC and put it into my laptop

I can't find where to check if the wireless is turned on so i'm just searching through the help and support bit.
Oh my iphone is connected again now. Really confused!! Think happy & you'll be happy

I have a 8/9 week old laptop,
The problem is that although it is turned on the keyboard does not appear to have power.
It does not make any difference if the on off button is pressed.
The on the lights on the front of the laptop are lit.
However if the power cable is taken out the two lifghts go out.
The battery is fully charged.
The screen is blacked.
Could the laptop be locked??
Please help.ThanksSPC £500 well will try very hard.

MMMmm, I just bought my first ever laptop, have always had desktops for years.
Mine is an acer and it has a management centre where you click on the globe picture and it shows a list of available wireless connections, one should be your hub. ( I have bt home hub myself) I have had issues in the past so my son connects by ethernet to his comp and xbox upstairs and I do with my desktop. However my new laptop had the reverse problem in that i couldn't stop it connecting so I could take the free anti v off and put my own on.
Is there a management centre on yours? what make is it?

Moonflower, it might be best starting a new thread asking this and then people are more likely to help you. It will probably just get lost on here. Think happy & you'll be happy

I've only been using it for an hour or so and I just wanted to get the internet up and running so I haven't played around with anything else yet. It should be ok, I hope :rotfl::heart: Think happy & you'll be happy

Providing that you are using at least WPA-PSK(TKIP) encryption on your wireless with a long random passphrase e.g. here:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
