:j soo thats me gone off the IS register.
It is finally over.
I just wrote a long post and lost it,,thats what happens if you post in the semi dark and at this time of night:D .
I never did a diary but i would like to say a few words:eek: .
18mths ago i was lay in bed doing mental sums of how i was going to pay my cc bills.
Most of my debt was run up through having 3 girls by a previous marriage and believing i was responsible for them and in a strange kind of way, needing to make it up to them for not being with their father. Details you do not need, but lets just say he was was very vocal with his fists.
I am a proud person and although i met and married(3 years later) a great man who took me on and my 3 girls,i never ever forgot my responsibility.
I took out my first cc to get my wedding dress and my daughters bridesmaid dresses from laura ashley 19 years ago. It may be only came to £300 at the time but that was my first big mistake. Several more were to follow......18 years later....
Anyway going back to 13 mths ago when things had got so out of control.
Then i would lie awake at night doing mental sums. "yes ok i have £££ to pay off that cc and the by the time that is cleared .....payment is due on another card, so can draw that back off the other card. I was careful not to draw cash at first sign of trouble, maybe 2 years ago. So when i did the lottery at work i collected the cash, used it for my min payments then used my card to pay for the lottery. Same with shopping and when my daughter wanted to go on holiday with friends ect. I thought it was a good system, pay for goods get the cash, make the min payments............ Until you reach your limit,,or nobody wants anything off the internet. Then you have no option but to draw cash and then you know you have reached rock bottom.
So after looking into IVA ,after hearing sooo much about it on the radio and tv and thinking it was the answer to my prayers:o . I find it is not viable,so bc it must be.
It took me a long time to accept that i had gone bc,i felt dirty, embarassed, the lowest of the low really. There is stigma regardless of how we look at it. Most of it is caused by lack of understanding. We tarr people with the same brush. That needs to change. How i dont know as no matter what, you will get people who will exploit it like everything else:rolleyes: .
Anyway that is part of my history. Somethings i can not go into beacause this is an open forum;) .
Lets just say at one point in my nievety(sp) of bc and its proceedings i feared i would go to jail:eek: .
Then i found this forum and i have made many friends. Too many to mention all but those i would like to thankyou to are:-
And in no particular order:D
Fermi-The ever sensible level headed one of us all
Bat- the fighter
BLTN- oh what a great sense of houmour
Phil- picture perfect
Waspy-who i can not wait to meet;) regardless of what he wears
skylight- who i get to double check my replies
Deedee- who deserves a medal for what she does here, when she has her own demons to fight
Holmes-who helps me no end:D
So sad- a lovely lady who needs to DO IT
Max- for being max:rotfl: i love him to bits now i THINK i understand him
FYP- for our early weekend pm's
Dotty- for being one of life's givers and is unfortunate to be in the position to need this forum
Gosh i could go on forever. There have been so many over the last 12 mths who have pm'd me or helped in some way or another. Lots without even realsing it.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST LILY BART who is so funny, kind and generous:rotfl: . I have to say this she is putting me up for the night in jan;) . Joking lily.
Thankyou all soooooo much. Just hope all the newbies ect get as much out of this forum as i did. It saved my life,my sanity and i made so many true friends.
Merry christmas to you all. God bless .DawnXXX

Oh sweetheart! You just made me cry!
(For those bewildered by this, brave, strong, clever Dalip came to the rescue when I was lost in fog of bereavement and pre-bankruptcy miseries.)
Congratulations on your disappearance. That is one very important chapter closed. And ok, we'll give you breakfast too!

Dalip, your post brought a tear to my eye too, thank you for being around, for your help, for just being you, and congratulations on coming off the IS. I can relate to so much you say, I was naive too, and still have at the back of my mind that I could be in prison, but it's not like that. Yes 19 years sounds about the same length of time to me.
Please stay on this board - when I saw the heading I thought at first you were leaving, but it was good news instead.
Love, and virtual hugs xxxxBankrupt 11th June 2008

Speaking as a newbie, I can say that I have got sooo much out of this forum that it has probably saved my sanity if not my life.....
You were one of the first to reply to my first post Dawn and I will be forever grateful.
It is such a sensitive and difficult issue that writing a first post, especially when one is feeling a bit battered to start with, is pretty frightening. In my case I couldn't have got nicer replies, so helpful and really supportive.
My life and thoughts have changed dramatically in the past fortnight. My BR date is set for early Jan and even though there are still going to be bridges to cross I feel better prepared and ready for them.
A lot, if not all, of that strength has come from this forum and the amazing people on it and you are one of the "stars" as far as I am concerned.
Best wishes and have a lovely Christmas.

Dawn, you were one of the first to respond to my first post aswell. Your help and advice has helped me enormously so I'm another one who is very grateful to you. It's a massive comfort to know that whatever happens on this journey there are people here who will be ready to offer advice and words of wisdom.
Congratulations to you and have a lovely Christmas,
