ZoneAlarm/Windows installer nightmare!!!

Basically I updated to the latest version of ZA (V 6) and would not install correctly. Then it blocked my internet access!! I tried to uninstall it and put and the old version back on. Now its jammed. When the PC boots up it goes straight into windows installer but fails to install. If I try and install the older version, it says installer is already being used and crashes right out of XP.
So currently I have NO firewall as even the SP2 firewall will not load. Zone Alarm (either version) is not obviously anywhere to be found.
I cant install, uninstall (as I cant find it) any version of Zone Alarm. The PC seems to be jammed trying to install Zone Alarm but it fails and crashes so the PC automatically re-starts. (ie it turns off and boots up)
I presume something in the windows installer is corrupted but dont have the first clue as to what to do.

Have you tried manually killing the running process in the task manager, its probably that which is preventing you from doing anything.
You should then be able to install and then un-insatll the latest version properly allowing to put the earlier version back on.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -
