Question: quoting a previous post

Savvy_Sue and minimoneyme posted the easiest ways of doing it
Multi-quote would be nice but until then those methods will do
Ah yes thats another one I want to know how to do.....the link in a word thing!!0 -
I just highlight the persons name on the right of the post and press ctrl+v and end up with beccam !!
Haven't actually noticed the same occurring on other forums - though I don't use that many anymore - I use firefox maybe it is because of that
you can also do it manually
words [ /url] without the space words0 -
You're coming across as a bit sensitive becca! How else is anyone supposed to show you how to do these things? :rotfl:
You would probably find it useful to read all of sra's A-Z (which is part of what espresso linked to).Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

Having re-read my post I realised that what I said I did isn't quite correct, althought it does work to some extent.(Sorry there was a lot of excitment over on Boots Grabbits that day!)[ / quote ] ) then I highlight and drag the 2nd quote to the end of where I want to quote and drop, delete what I don't want and do the same for any further bits I want to quote. Is that any help?
First I quote the whole post with the standard blue 'quote' button (this means the quote is named (as above)
Then at the end of the [ / quote ] code I would use the speech box icon as described,
and either highlight, drag and drop portions of text in-between the quotes code or cut and paste them in, adding my own text outside of the codes, as needed. Hope that makes a bit more sense.then use the the little yellow speech box icon at the top in the reply
Until I got used to putting the quote codes in the correct place it helped me to use the 'preview post' button at the bottom of the reply box, to make sure I hadn't put quotes around the wrong bits of text. hth0 -
Re; the linky in a word.
No offence to sra, but I read the guide, and I just didn't get it (though now I know how to do it, it does make sense
)
So here is an idiots guide that someone explained to me, because I can't be the only one who didn't get it, can I?
:o:o
Say you want to link to the Boots page without a long bit of blue gobblygook in you post
open your 'post reply' box, type you post,
ie;
open a new window in you browser,this is the Offer of the Week in Boots,
go to boots.com, open the relevant page,
highlight and copy the web page address (url) from the browser box at the top,
go back to your MSE page,
highlight the word (Offer of the Week)
click the hyperlink icon
paste you page address into the box (important - either delete or paste over the blue highlighted http:// )
click OK, and it should be there!0
