Barclays people - in you come!!!

I've had some bizarre issues with my new Barc current account. They gave me some rubbish Electron style debit card. I actually took my credit report in to them to show that I have nothing negative in my credit history at all. The banker said that the issue might be simply my not being on the Electoral Register. Well, as of today I finally do appear on the Electoral Register. Will Barclays be updated automatically by Experian of my ER status? Is there some kind of monthly feed or something? Would i need to close this current account and open a new one?

Alot of banks will just issue a new card when you have been with for a while, Natwest just issue my mate a servicecard 100 and they never asked him if he wanted one. He had a similar card to your before a solo card.

We don't do that. You have to manually apply for a higher level card.

Moneysavingallday - the Visa debit, which isn't actually an electron, is now our default card. You can of course get a "better" card with a cheque guarantee card, but it must be selected. Their issue tends to be down in line with cheque books.

You can ask the person in the bank to apply for one - even if it doesn't show as "pre-approved."

:rotfl: . I would go in to the branch and tell/show them you have a Maestro debit card with £100 cheque Guarantee and LLoydstsb with the same limit and unless they "upgrade" tell them you will close the account with them. ;) It's worth ago.

Sutton it is worth it actually. I'm gonna do it. And I'm gonna wear one hell of a form-fitting sultry little skirt-suit while I do it :)

Nobody really asks for cheque books any more, so we don't tend to issue the cheque guarantee cards to go with it.

Just go ask in your branch if you desperately need the cheque guarantee. It's not a snub to you that we didn't put one on but your other banks did - it just reflects the changing times.

And as much as I'm sure a form fitting skirt-suit would be a delightful sight, branch workers don't get to make the decision if you can have the card or not, they just do the grunt work for it. Sorry. :(

That damn automated system was a nightmare, like others have said, go in (or call) and ask for a connect card, often they would be approved but not always in the first limits list. The advisor just needed to do an application on Customer System.

    Good Luck!

I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!

Moneysavingallday: You got a £700 overdraft with this account if I remember but they won't give you a CG card because your not on the electrol roll.
    Strange!

    Breezy ;)
