Token Meter Misery

Hi
I am also a Swalec customer with a key meter which was installed In November (changed from a paper token meter). My rate before the change was 9.62p per unit and now being charged 14.98p per unit. I found out about the price increase by a competitor calling me to see if I would change suppliers. On contacting Swalec I was told that the prices has increased in July but I wasn't notified. They have said I will not be charged the extra from time of increase until meter change as they admitted it was their fault an engineer hadn't been out to change tariff.
We currently use approx £3.60 per day, this is for electric cooking, lighting etc but we have calor gas central heating (which is blooming expensive!!).
I would check your rate with Swalec as its higher than ours. I don't know if different areas have different charges. Check your meter settings to make sure there are not any other charges being applied other than your standard ppu. It maybe that the engineer left the standing charge on by mistake.
I have found Swalec more than helpful and if you call them and ask questions, they will always provide full answers.0 -
we cant see a unit price on the meter
Without the card in, and the meter showing you your credit, press and hold the red A button until the screen schanges (either to 00 - Last Credit or 27 - GD remaining). let go of the red button and press it again (relese it straight away) - the screen will change again (01 - Last for debt or 25 - WRR Min).
Keep pressing the button until you see 09 - Tariff Cost 4 & 10 - Tariff Cost 5.
If you have no standing charge these will be your Tier 1/primary and Tier 2/follow on prices respectively. There is a screen with a standing charge somewhere, but can't remember the number.0 -
