Ryannair Debit Card Payments exhorbiant charges

I booked a flight for four yesterday from Ryannair. I made one payment on my Visa Debit Card and was charged a total of 32 pounds, eight pounds for each passenger. Surely this is way beyond any admin charge that the company would incur for a single transaction. Anyone like to comment ?

It has absolutely nothing to do with the costs they incur. It's a way of increasing the average revenue per passenger but still being able to advertise very cheap fares.

Use an Electron card and get charged nothing extra. To get one apply for an Easycash account

Or just see if your bank can issue an Electron card on your account. Abbey can have an Electron and a Visa Debit on the same account.

Forget the charges, was the bottom line still a good deal?;)

Could you have got the package cheaper anywhere else?

Ryanair are cheap and good even with the debit card charges. However, I still believe "what you see is what you pay" should be the rule when advertising prices. Free should mean free, £30 should mean £30.

I would be glad if a law were passed to prohibit the advertising of fares that do not include all charges including the credit/debit card fee, the airport check in and hold baggage. They can still offer extra discounts to people who do not need these facilities (visa electron card holders who travel light).
  • After the extra charges and stuff, and me as a flyer who takes alot of baggage, BA is actually looking more attractive that ryanair atm.
