DVD recorder troubles - help needed

We got a new Liteon 5045 DVD recorder for christmas and trying to get to grips with it.

I've recorded Garfield the Movie for my daughter today and it's about a 1hr15m recording which is now saved on the hard drive. I decided to copy it to DVD for good measure, but it won't let me. It says something about limitations and suggests I split the title.

I recorded it on High Quality and am trying to copy it to a DVD +RW which is 4.7GB. Is that not enough memory for a short film recorded on HQ setting??

Help anyone? It's really frustrating as the instruction manual doesn't offer any advice in the troubleshooting section. I'm a bit stumped.

HQ mode only allows 1 hour of recording on a standard recordable DVD. Is there a way for the machine to "shrink to fit" the recording so that it will fit onto a DVD without sacrificing picture quality?

I have the Liteon 5006, there's hardly a difference between HQ and SP modes (1hr and 2hr respectivley), just set it to record onto SP mode instead, you'll hardly notice a difference.
