Hi all
I have just bought my son the Medion M80527 mp3 from Somerfield but Im having problems installing it.
I have pluged it into the USB and during installation I get the following message:
The File USBNTMAP.SYS was not found, please insert your windows millenium edition disk.
I put in the disk and changed the path to copy files from
and clicked ok but the path changes to c:\programs files\commonfiles\aol\acs.
I then tried to reinstall the drivers from device manager with the windows me disk in the d: drive but it still cant find the file.
Dont know what to do next. Any help would be greatly welcome.
thanks

Thanks Whitefiver, I have had a look at the site and scanned for missing drivers but I would need to pay $30 to download the driver I need.
I was hoping there would be a solution without having to pay for new driver. If I can't sort this over the weekend I will contact the tech support for our computer supplier and see if they can help.
Thank for your suggestion.0 -
Please don't install Windows ME files found on web sites on Windows ME systems, when the files are already on your system, just not where you can find them. You may not be getting the correct files.
Windows ME comes with full support for Thumb and USB type of drives. The problem is, that some OEM manufactures in building their master Installed copy of Windows ME did not have any such devices to test with and did not "install" them in their build. So users find these files missing. They are there in the System CAB files. They just need to be extracted and installed.
Do not plug the USB Thumb drive in now. Keep it out of the machine. If you have tried to plug it in, reboot the system.
First do a Start - Search and search for USBSTOR.INF
If found, skip the following instructions for extracting a copy of it........
IF search does not find USBSTOR.INF, you will have to EXTRACT a copy of it.
Use My Computer to browse to the following folder
C:\Windows\Options\Install\PRECOPY1.CAB
and in it locate the file USBSTOR.INF and then right click on it and in the options list select the EXTRACT option.
This will ask you where you want to extract a copy to. Navigate to the C:\Windows\INF folder and store it in that folder.
..... Skip to here .....
Now search for the USBSTOR.INF again and when you find it, right click on it, and in the options list, select the Install option.
If it can not find one of the files and asks for it, use the Browse button to point to the C:\Windows\OPTIONS\INSTALL folder and try again. It should only take a few seconds to install the USB drive support.
Now reboot the system again to complete the install of the USB drive support. When done, plug your USB Thumb drive into a USB plug on the system. After a few seconds, this should cause Windows PnP to see the device and search for its drivers. This might take about two minutes to complete. Again, if it asks for files, use browse to point it to the C:\Windows\Options\Install folder again.
When done, a new icon will appear in the SysTray next to the time. This icon is used to tell you that a USB storage device of some kind is plugged into the system. Before unplugging any of these USB devices you should click on this icon and tell it which storage device you want to remove and then unplug it after it tells you it is OK to do so.
With the device plugged in, you can now go to MY Computer and it will display a drive icon with a drive letter.

Also if the cab files are not perloaded on your machine you will find them on your ME cd under the win9x directory0 -
Thank you soooo much Hendersonb. Your instructions worked a treat and we are now ready to download music.
Thank again

Sorry, I don't understand. My link took you directly to:-
"System Files for WinMe(if you scrolled down), and each of these was a free download (I know, I tried!).
Anyway, glad you are sorted now.
