  • trcooke - I could kiss you :A channel 68 and suddenly I can see sky channels. The picture quality isn't as good as on the freeview channels but I can work on that now.
I was beginning to have visions of the little 14 inch tv coming back and it just wasn't going to be quite the same once I'd seen the picture on a 32 inch.

Thank you soo much -all of you guys!

    Ha, great stuff.

Don't get to hung up on the picture quality as you'll most likely not get it any better than it is. By the time it's gotten to your second TV the signal will have been converted from digital to analogue by your Sky box, routed half way round your house on coaxial, then analogue upscaled by your TV.

My only advice is to get used to it. But it's cheaper than multiroom...
  • Glad you got it sorted, so it does have analogue after all. :j

With the Sky box connected direct to the dish, use one scart to the main TV. Use the RF OUT from the Sky box to the ariel wall socket. Provided any wall sockets use have installed all join (probably in your loft), then the SKY programme will be transmitted to all sockets (TV'S). Just tune the correct channel.

If the signal is weak (it will probably be OK for 2 TV's), then use a booster in the loft.

For even better control, connect a remote transmitter in the second room etc. and have full control over your "downstairs" system when lying in bed.

Terrestial TV (and digital) coming through the sockets will not be effected and you can wtach different programmes if you wish, as long as one is on digital / terrestial.

We have had this done for years, and have Sky and aerial TV from Sky box, some with some without magic eyes, our friendly local one-man-band tv aerial guy did it for us, but all he did to up the power was to go into the installer part of the Sky Box and change a connection. I did pay attention at the time, but it was many years ago now. Someone may know how though.

What he probably did was to turn on the RF2 power, to enable the magic eye to remotely control the sky box.

I'm presuming that you also have a sky remote for the TV that you are using the 'magic eye' on.....have you reprogrammed the remote to your new telly?? I had the 'same' problem as you when I recently bought a new TV and spent days trying to work out why I couldn't get the sky channels and it was because of the remote.......just a thought

Programming the remote for the TV, has nothing to do with being able to view Sky on the TV, it just means you can use your Sky remote to control the TV instead of the TVs remote.

If the remote isn't programmed, it just means you can't use the Sky remote for control the TV and you'll have to use the TV remote for changing the TV channels, volume etc, you can still use the Sky box.

Your issue can NOT have been anything to do with the Sky remote, not possible.

To get to the installer menu you just press [Services] 4 0 1 [Select] on the Sky remote. Then go to the RF options and switch power to RF2 on.

RF2 power, powers the Magic Eye / TV Link, not needed to be switched on if you just have the 2nd TV connected and don't use a magic eye device.

Yeah if it's a long run the picture quality can drop.

    There's always a digisender.

It is amazing on how people no longer know you need to tune channels in.
