Hello
I've connected my laptop to the tv using a VGA cable - works fine. But if i wanted to route the sound to come from the tv where am i going wrong? I have a 3.5mm jack to L R Phono cable i'm using to connect the two. As soon as i plug the 3.5mm jack into the laptop the sound on the laptop goes off but nothing from the tv. Are there certain settings i need to tweak on the tv?
Thanks

What's the make of TV (in case it only has audio out rather than audio in!!).
If your graphics card has s-video out you can get a hold of a 'component to scart' cable and see if the sound works.
something like this you can get it cheaper from other locations
Laters

The TV is Panasonic TH42PX80B - i'm pretty sure the panel at the front has Phono Inputs, Video & S-Video.0

Are you sure the phonos you plugged into are for the VGA input (they should be right next to one another)?:idea:0

I have same TV, when using with PC, I plug the 2 phonos into the the "Audio in" connections on the back of the set
Looking from the back there are 3 vertical columns of phono sockets to the left of the 2 scart sockets, the middle column is labeled Audio In
That where I plug sound in - not actually close to VGA connector
The ones on the front are selected by picking "AV3" - but this will then not show VGA input - AV3 intended for video camera etc0 -
On my old panasonic plasma, I only had a 3.5mm audio input for the VGA port, and it was located right next door to it. That audio phono in, might be for another AV input. Check the manual.0
