Hi
Im not sure if this is the correct place to put this thread
I received a letter today from a company called Georgeson
It reads.........
Following a transaction involving a PLC, Georgeson is trying to contact Mr (my name), whose last known registered address (old address from 8 yrs)
Our research shows that you may be the person that is entitled to an outstanding entitlement from the company in question. In order that we positively identify you as the rightful beneficiary, please contact us on the following number or fill in this for and retunr it in the pre-paid envelope provided
The form states tick once box
* I believe I have a valid claim to this entitlement. I confirm that I lived at the above address. I also confirm that I previously lived at (old address) and provide full details below
* I confirm that I am not the person referred to in this letter and do not wish to received any further correspondence relating to this matter
Thank you for your assistance
Has anyone heard of this company? Does anyone think/know this is a scam??
I am not sure what to do?
They have a website which I have looked www.georgeson.com/unclaimed
Any input would be greatly appreciated

Hi Simpywimpy
Thank you for your comment
No not that I can remember
I did pay into pensions when I was with previous employers and I have got premium bonds? not sure if that would be why they are contacting me?
I want to find out if this company are who they say they are before I contact them0 -
Georgeson are part of Computershare: http://www-uk.computershare.com/Default.asp?bhjs=1&fla=1&cc=UK&lang=EN who are a large and well established company. There's a link to Georgeson from Computershare's site.0

Did you ever have an account with a building society which demutualised (Bradford & Bingley for example?) If so you may have been entitled to shares which were subsequently sold when they were unclaimed. If so do not use Georgeson just go direct via the building society for the claim form - that way you will get the cash without paying a % fee to Georgeson. For B&B go to:

You will if you had unclaimed windfall shares as these were sold in 2004."The happiest of people don't necessarily have the
best of everything; they just make the best
of everything that comes along their way."

yes, it's a scam. Those kind of things are done by letter. If my typing is pants or I seem partcuarly blunt, please excuse me, it physically hurts to type. :wall: If I seem a bit random and don't make a lot of sense, it may have something to do with the voice recognition software that I'm using!0

It was a letter the OP received.0

It is probably genuine, but if you go through the company they will receive a commission for finding you, and that will come out of your pocket.
Now is the time to contact all the organisations that might owe you money, and see if you can resume contact directly.0 -
It's not a scam! It's done on behalf of the company however they will charge a fee for claiming the shares/money so its better to go to the company direct.:rotfl:0
