Hi
My step son has recently moved in with us. He is 19, and went back to college in sept. My partner claims income support, carers allowance, and i claim child tax credits along with 2 lots of dla (my daughter and myself).
We have applied for CB & child tax credits for him, and he has applied for ema. He has just got a job working 15 hours a week, for pocket money.
Does this affect any of our other benefits, including housing benefit and council tax benefit?

EMA doesn't make a difference to any other benefits.
As he's a student on a course that attracts EMA, I'm pretty sure his earning won't either -- but probably best to ask. It certainly won't make any difference to your DLA or Carers Allowance claims as they're not means tested.Cheryl0 -
I'm pretty certain neither the EMA or his earnings makes any difference while he is a student.0

cw18 and bestpud are correct, his partime earnings whilst at college will not affect your benefits.0
