How long to transfer Crdeit card?

When my Barclaycard 0% interest ran out last Aug (the first credit card I'd had for 20 years and bought largely because of this site), I began the process of transferring the 2000 debt to HSBC.

The last letter I had from them was 12th November saying my application has been approved.

Was I naive in thinking It would all go through in a couple of weeks?

I could have paids the £2000 off long ago, and have now incurred interest charges of over £100.

I'd just be interested in knowing whether this kind of delay is normal, in which case for me it's not really worth transferring a debt to a new card.

HSBC seem to be one of the slowest. They also make money from you by using an 0870 number if you have to speak with them. Not one of my favourites, Egg is though.

they've got a backlog of 15,000 cards- have you received one of their letters asking you to contact them- if so don't worry just formality- ring them up and you will usually get it in another 3 weeks- once you get card service improves dramatically- it's just getting card in first place which is problem!
