Alliance & Leicester ignore me!

I tried to open an e-saver with A & L on Monday. All looked OK & I awaited the promised e-mail in "a few minutes" telling me if the online application was OK or if more information was needed. 24 hours later - nothing, so I thought I would check progress via e-mail - but the appropriate page on their website wouldn't load.
Today I had another try, filled in the details & sat back awaiting the promised e-mail. Yet again - nothing.
Could this be a hint that they don't want my money or is this normal practice for A & L?
