There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.

  • hard to answer. I like ebuyer.com , but is this for a lappy or a desktop, 2x1gb or 1x2gb? might be cheaper getting 800mhz ram, it will run at the lower speed

I would try and find out what memory is in use already in the computer. This new memory may have to co-exist with what is already there. There will be options for upgrading the memory in hardware section of the documentation for the motherboard. There will be choices of which memory slots to fill, the RAM voltage capability of the motherboard the preferred ram timings such as 'cl' values.
You can find out what is there with the freeware CPU-Z.
The memory chips that are there contain text that describe what they via a serial presence detect (SPD) capability.
    J_B.
PS make sure you get the right number of pins on the memory and make sure that the brand of memory you are considering is supported by the motherboard. There may be lists of compatible memory modules maintained by the manufacturer of the motherboard.

Everyone usually finds PLAY.COM cheapest once theyve sussed out exactly which type of ram they need

  • Hi,

PLAY have a 2gb of stick of RAM:
    PNY PC5300 / 2GB / 667MHz / DDR2 / 240pin DIMM / Computer Mem

for £11.99 - sorry I don't know how to put in a link

'Offer of the day' shows it if you search for 2gb on 'Play' only - you can link from there.

    Cheers
