.I feel sorry for them and I feel sorry for the first time buyers having two children of my own in their early twenties who will never be able to afford to buy.
I suppose its not so much the goal scoring I dislike, but the goal celebration.
So who do you feel sorry for the most, people who borrowed to much or you own children who can't afford to buy ?, one of my main reasons for wanting affordability to return is so my child and the children of today do not have to be slaves to debt.0 -
A sad tale indeed, however I still haven't seen any of the regulars on this board hoping for people to be repo'ed so they can get their hands on a house as you claimed in your first post.
To be honest I still don't see what HPC has to do with that video, the guy had some bad luck at work, otherwise he would still have a household income of 35k and would be paying his mortgage, nothing to do whether his house was worth £300k or £300.
I disagree. I think his problems are caused by the HPC. Now that he has recovered he can't get another job because there arent any jobs for gas fitters. In normal times he would get another job. The reason that there are no jobs for gas fitters is because practically all new building has stopped because of the HPC and nobody buying houses, so the workplace is now flooded with out of work plumbers, gas fitters and workers from all the other trades. I know this because my husband is a plumber and was recently laid off and was shocked at how few jobs there are.
There are a lot of plumbers now doing extra training as gas fitters because they think there might be some work for them because it requires extra training and a lot of money to become Corgi Registered on the extra gas elements.
So yes this has everything to do with the HPC.The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -

I don't buy that, there are 21 million houses in the UK, most have gas services connected to them, if they break they need fixing or replacing, whether you're moving house or not.0 -

I feel that way too and I can appreciate anyone wanting their children to have houses but what I am talking about is as I said before, the goal celebration. The people who are losing their homes may not have been wise but they also had their dreams. As I said they may not have borrowed too much but have just come into hard times due to the recession. No one is really safe unless they own their home outright and there are a lot of jobs which are at risk.
There are cases of greed but most people want to give their family a home. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -

Not really, you came here and attacked people with no argument to back you up, all she did is find out why you are so angry as you didn't tell us yourself.0 -
WISHIWASRICH is a trolling scumbag, I'd suggest people just put him/her on 'ignore' just as I am about toooooooo.......... NOW.
Ah, silence is golden. No more wasting my eye muscles reading his/her fruit loop posts. *sigh*
I got his/her alter ego MUSTBEFUNNY banned after remarks made about my daughter. Scum.Mortgage Free in 3 Years (Apr 2007 / Currently / Δ Difference)

But Tes, if the HPI had continued, the people who bought in the last few years would be celebrating that and NO DOUBT gloating over others, like they have for the last 5 years or so. The people who were already priced out (like me, I will admit) would be down in the dumps and feeling like they will never get that foot in the door (hate the ladder analogy).
As it is, HPI didn't continue. So the people who bought in the last few years are down in the dumps, and of course the people who thought they would never get there, have some hope at last. Of course it is down to the individual whether they openly "celebrate" or "gloat". Most don't - and almost no-one to the point that they welcome a recession! I really challenge you to find anyone on these boards welcoming a recession.
I just don't get why homeowners were allowed to gloat when things were going well for them, but us potential homeowners aren't even allowed to hope without being called vultures? you KNOW its only a minority on this board but we've been tarred with the same brush.
I do NOT want a recession and I hate seeing all the bad news at the moment, but its just that for me and millions like me there hopefully will eventually be a silver lining to the massive black cloud. That doesn't mean we are enjoying the rain.
(end of awful analogy...)0 -

Well, I can't speak for what it is like anywhere else but here in North Kent was a boom area for plumbers because there was so much housebuilding going on. Now it has all ground to a halt and there are thousands out of work competing with those who are already working for themselves. Landlords certificates are already covered, there are hundreds of plumbers and gas fitters advertising around here. However if you look in the local job centre specifically for plumbing work about 20 or so jobs come up. The problem is only one or two of them is in this area (by this area I mean 40 miles radius), the rest are countrywide.
You may not buy it but I'm telling you its true because we have recently gone through trying to set him up as self employed and we got no response whatsoever. So if this gas fitter (I don't know where he is) has tried the same thing as us then I'm not surprised he's losing his house. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -

So does that mean us in the middle are the lost generation now??? paying for the mistakes that the previous generation started and being punished by the generation coming through0
